The region is bursting with so many incredible things to do right from our doorstep. It\u2019s one of the reasons we chose to raise our own family here! As well as all the fantastic outdoor spaces and activities, there are also loads of family attractions that would make a fun day out for everyone. Here are our top six places we enjoy visiting \u2013 don\u2019t be put off by the drive times as there are plenty of places on route to stop and take in the views or more activities and we would be happy to help you plan your day to make the most of these attractions and everything nearby.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Slate is all around us and built into much of the fabric of Bryn Llys \u2013 walls, fences and bridges. The slate industry and way of life has chiselled itself into the very being of this part of Wales. A great day of enjoyment and education awaits at the National Slate Museum set in a beautiful landscape on the shores of Llyn Padarn, surrounded by the stunning mountains of Snowdonia. With the terminus of the Llanberis Lake Railway, one of the ‘Great Little Trains of Wales’ and the nearby village of Llanberis, there\u2019s plenty to explore!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Voted the best family attraction in the region for consecutive years, a great place for all the family to have fun. Gigantic playgrounds, the world\u2019s first people-powered roller coaster and the country’s only solar-powered water slide, plus loads more to do and explore. A great day out and only 10 mins drive away!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Experience the sights, sounds and smells of a real working farm. Foel Farm Park near Brynsiencyn on Anglesey offers a great family day out. In a wonderful beachside setting on the Menai Straits with views across to Caernarfon Castle and the mountains of Snowdonia it is also an idyllic picnic spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n See the best of British marine wildlife at this native marine aquarium. Situated on the shores of the Menai Straits, you can learn all about British marine habitats and the research and conservation work which is helping to save them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Set in a unique, picturesque landscape, the Welsh Mountain Zoo occupies some 37 acres of lush green landscape overlooking Colwyn Bay and the Carneddau mountains. There\u2019s lots to see and do and some great spots for picnics with stunning views across the mountains and Conwy Estuary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A real favourite with our girls when they were younger. Located on Anglesey, the butterfly farm has something for the whole family \u2013 butterflies, birds, meerkats, lizards, snakes, spiders and pets corner to mention a few! Toddlers can play around in the indoor play area while older children can have fun on the bouncy castle or play barn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Picturesque Portmeirion sits on its own private peninsula overlooking Cardigan Bay. It’s an ideal place to explore, with acres of woodland and miles of beach to roam. Overlooking stunning coastal scenery, the Italian Riviera meets rural Wales with a riot of colour and architectural styles.
